God Said It…Just Believe It

“…Do not be afraid; only believe.” (Mark 5:36b)

God said it – just believe it…is a phrase I saw on a bumper sticker years ago.  The goal of the bumper sticker was to evoke childlike faith.  However, it did just the opposite in my mind.  I remember thinking to myself, “easier said than done”.  You see, when your house is falling down, your health is failing, and your finances are dwindling it’s hard to keep believing.  In moments like these we may even wonder, “What did God say?”  Or even worse, “Did He really mean it?  Is it really so?”  This is something humanity has wrestled with from the beginning of time.
